Spooooooooky Tree!

Getting into the Halloween Spirit over here at CLC I decided to transform one of our CLW0090 MDF 3D Tree with Owls into something a little spookier for the season! If you would like to create a similar affect or outcome please follow the method below :)


What you will need:
CLW0090 MDF 3D Tree with Owls
CLDAO98 DecoArt Americana Acrylic French Grey Blue
CLDAW70 DecoArt Silver Dazzling Metallics Writer
CLDAW67 DecoArt Black Writer
CLDA DCT11 DecoArt Multi Craft Twinkles
CLDAO67 DecoArt Lamp Ebony Black


To begin I painted the MDF Tree with two coats of CLDAO98 French Grey Blue Americana Acrylic so that it was thoroughly covered including all of the edges. Once dry I painted the Owl figures at the top with the DecoArt Lamp Ebony Black before using the DecoArt Multi Craft Twinkles on top; this gave a great glitter affect that was perfect for the Halloween theme.

Once completely dry I began to create the spider web pattern using the DecoArt Silver Dazzling Metallics Writer working from the centre out making the cobwebs larger towards the outside. (One difficulty I found was that after I had finished I was not able to reconnect the base of the tree easily and found I had to remove a lot of the paint. It may be worth putting the tree back together once painted and before using the writer as it will create a 3D raised affect making it more difficult.) After letting the cobwebs dry I added the detail to the owls by outlining the wings and the eyes using DecoArt Black Writer.

To complete my tree I applied a few spiders to the cobwebs for the final finish! To find the CLW0090 Tree on our site please click here.
